My very domestic weekend

by Jenn on February 24, 2009

Friday evening I went out shopping with a friend. Amazing how fun Krogering can be with the right person. I think we laughed more in two hours that evening then I had all week.
After dinner and reading time with our daughter Gerry and I kicked back and watched a movie. After he passed out on me I stayed up and got all caught up on my dvr’d shows from the week. I think I was up until after 2:00a.m., not some thing I do very often but it was nice. The house was so dark and quiet.

Saturday morning I was up early to see Gerry off to work. I stripped the beds and had the sheets in the washer by 9:00. Then I slaved over the stove for some homemade cinnamon raise french toast for a nice brunch with my daughter and mother in law. After brunch Allison went out to shovel snow for our neighbors and I was able to get half a dozen items listed on Ebay and Craigslist. Even sold a couple of things that were picked up that afternoon. After a couple of hours of house work I spent some time watching an afternoon movie with my mother in law. Then it was back in the kitchen to work on some home made manicotti for dinner. Later that night after everyone else was asleep I enjoyed a long hot soak in the tub by candle light, Tonka Bean candles by Partylite. It was so nice and relaxing. Felt so good, I could have slept in there all night.

Sunday morning was another early one, Gerry took our very excited nine year old daughter with him to his side job. They spent the entire day ripping out bathroom tile and flooring. I heard they had a great lunch break at the Home Depot hot dog stand. She looked so cute going out the door with him, her own tool box in hand.
While they worked I was home spending my day listening to music, doing laundry and preparing a turkey with all the trimmings. The house smelled so good all day. Just like Thanksgiving. My daughter, her boyfriend and their daughter were their to enjoy the big dinner with us. Which turned out fantastic and worth all the effort. After dinner, while some one else did all the clean up I claimed my spot on the couch for the night, logged onto Twitter and enjoyed watching all the Red Carpet and Oscar fun with my online friends.

Both days, I had all of our curtains and blinds open so I could look out and see all of the snow and what sun shine we had. Funny how knowing I wasn’t going out in it until Monday morning made it look so much nicer. It was a wonderful feeling.

Might not sound like a very exciting weekend to some but it was just what the doctor ordered for me. Weekends like these don’t come around very often for me, where I can move at my pace, enjoy being home and not have any running around to do.
I truly enjoyed all of my domestic bliss.
